“Our community needs visibility because the obstacles we face are distinct. Studies out of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention show bisexual women in particular experience a significantly high prevalence of rape, sexual violence and stalking,” said Katie Sly. “The aim of the Bi Visibility Cabaret is to make bisexual people visible to one another, because being bisexual can often be very isolating, and to make ourselves visible to and heard by other communities. There have been too many moments I’ve been told I don’t exist.”
Videofag is a space dedicated to the creation and exhibition of transgressive performance and new media. The space has played host to a wide range of emerging and established artists including Nina Arsenault, Sky Gilbert, Jennifer Chan, the Fustwurms, Dynasty Handbag, Bridget Moser, Alvis Parsley, Jeremy Bailey, and BAMBITCHELL, to name just a few.
"Videofag is about making the impossible happen, often with very few resources in a very small space. It is a site for radical expression, urgent inquiry, and a confluence of many communities. Too Queer: A Bi Visibility Cabaret exemplifies our desire to support a wide range of political, sexual, and artistic expression. And Sly, the brainchild behind the project, is one of Toronto theatre’s great young agent-provocateurs!” said Jordan Tannahill, co-director of Videofag.
