One of my favorites for breakfast

Daybreak has an excellent selection of egg dishes, waffles, and pancakes for breakfast. (The lunch menu -- they're open until 4.00 pm -- looks good, but I've never eaten lunch there.) The egg dishes come with a fluffy pancake as well as home fries and toast; this seems to be the norm in much of Toronto, though not in the States, so it's a nice treat. And, if you want a fruit pancake, the fruit is real, not the sort of oversugared compote you get at one major chain. The location more-or-less at the foot of the Village is convenient, the waiters are friendly, and, as long as there's not a crowd, no one hurries you out. I make a point of going at least once every trip.
