ABOUT THE EVENT:
We want to explore political themes through different art forms such as film and hopefully encourage a spark of disccusion on pressing issues in our society. We also want to give you the opportunity to break away from the stress of school and be educated in a fun way.
ABOUT THE MOVIE:
Paris is Burning is a documentary on ball culture in the 80s within marginalized and racialized queer communities of downtown New York City. It presents a series of interviews that demonstrate individuals involvement in ball culture and what is means to their lives as a whole. The film touches on issues of class, race, gender and sexuality and the BSA will be having a discussion after on these topics in terms of the time period, but also the present day.
SO MAKE SURE TO GET YOUR COMFY CLOTHES ON AND WE LOOK FORWARD TO SEEING YOU ALL THERE!
