Based on the true story of the author's ancestors, “Goodbye To All That” is a story of two brothers torn asunder by the jingoistic society of wartime Europe. At a single stroke in the heat of battle, one brother becomes a hero and the other a coward and
traitor to his country. Upon fleeing to neutral Switzerland, the cowardly brother discovers The Cabaret Voltaire, the birthplace of the anti-war Dadaist movement, a movement that would revolutionise western thought and usher in modernity. Through the subversive performative expression of Dadaism, he attempts to extricate himself from the powerful social and moral forces that drove mass slaughter on the battlefields of Europe.
