Our founders, the mighty CCMC, open our festival. Lori Freedman, returns with a show entitled The Virtuosity of Excess, which travels throughout the clarinet family through six works. Improvisuals by John Creson and Adam Rosen.

Tyondai Braxton (ex-Battles) deploys modular synthesizers, samples and visuals to bring his HIVE project to life. Healing Power Records’ Victoria Cheong creates expansive electronics as New Chance. Pantayo is an all-women gong ensemble based in Toronto whose music is grounded in the kulintang music traditions of the Philippines.

Absolutely Free creates a hypnotic, patient music that integrates analog electronics, African polyrhythms, psychedelia, Bollywood, and Krautrock. Keita Juma is a Mississauga-based rapper/producer whose new EP Nights In Space hits the street in advance of X Avant. Absolutely Free will taked the visual design reins for the evening.
