Presented to you by the Afghan-Canadian Lawyers' Association in partnership with Vitality Sports, this festival is sure to provide an opportunity for cultural exchange and embracement of ethnic diversity.
In light of Afghan independence day, celebrated in the month of August, the Afghan-Canadian Arts and Culture Festival will be highlighting the achievements of Afghan individuals and groups. We hope that this can mark a milestone in how far we have come as Afghan-Canadians, and also prove that our community can work together on a united front to showcase our various talents and skills!
Similar to the Annual Afghan Arts and Culture Festival, which has attracted over 2,500 attendees in Washington D.C., the Afghan-Canadian Festival aims to preserve, promote and educate the public about the Afghan community.
Despite being a war-torn nation that has faced endless hardships over the decades, Afghanistan is a nation filled with stories, passion, and a rich cultural heritage. It is time for us to truly celebrate how far we have come as Afghan-Canadians.
Come out and enjoy a fun-filled day of music, dance, live performances, arts, craft workshops (including kite-making!), delicious Afghan food, shopping at the Afghan bazaar, and so much more!
Highlights of this year's festival include:
-Keynote speakers on their hardships and achievements
-Beautiful art displays by Afghan artists
-Poetry and musical talent performances
-Documentaries about Afghanistan both past and present
-Afghan businesses
-Afghan non for profit organizations
-Afghan food vendors
-Afghan clothing vendors
-Afghan jewelry vendors
-Kids Zone
And much much more !
A significant portion of the proceeds will go the charity, Afghan Education for a Better Tomorrow(AEBT) which is a non-profit organization dedicated to educational advancement and health care in Afghanistan. Now is the time--more than ever--to join hands and give back to our community and promote our rich culture!
