The Toronto Queer arts and Culture Festival won’t be hosting an arts festival in 2015, instead we are expanding our annual film festival from an evening screening to a three day event. Each year we receive hundreds of entries that we have to refuse because of time constraints. Increasing the event will allow us to showcase the very best of emerging LGBTQ filmmakers both locally and internationally.
Sunday May 10 & Wednesday May 13, 2015 – 15 Congratulation letters were sent to directors all over the world. We received 252 submission. (Selection Committee; Lauren Tenn, Madison Fitzgerald and Michel F. Pare)
15 films selected for inclusion in our 2015 festival. Subject to change.

A little Chinese Dress – (Director – Caroline Fournier, France) Two young students, stand up to anti-gay marriage and adoption protesters in Marseille, in 2012 Run Time 17 minutes.
Chance – (Director - Jake Graf, London England) A chance encounter in the park with a mysterious stranger equally troubled by his own past jarringly reawakens lonely man and forces both men to once again start to live life again. Run Time 15 minutes.
Electric Indigo – (Director – Jean-Julien Collette, Brussels), A little girl faces peer pressure and becomes aware of her own identity, Run Time 24 minutes.
End of Season Sale – (Director – writer and producer Eli Glazer, Israel). Late at night two aging strangers fail to obtain Viagra for a one night stand. Run Time 55 minutes. We received DVD on May 8th
Fragile – (Director – Juliana Mango, Australia) 8 year old Alex moves in permanently with his Dad, he is forced to suppress his true identity as he struggles to live up to the expectations set for him. Run Time 9 minutes.
Gay Healers – (Director – Christian Deker Germany) A documentary on Conversion therapy (also known today as reparative therapy) is any treatment that aims to change sexual orientation (homosexual to heterosexual). Run Time 30 minutes.
Longing – (Director – Nadav Mishali, Israel) Longing is a human portrait of an introverted woman,who is loses her feminine image and burning by her desires. Run Time 20 minutes.
No Face– (Director – Daniel Kulle, Germany) We are surrounded by commercial images. Everywhere we look, everything we touch is already marked with economical value. Things become even more complicated, if our identity is a gay one, an identity constantly needing to rearrange its relation to straight mainstream culture and constantly searching for a centre to form a reassuring subculture. .Run Time 6 Minutes.
Open Windows – (Director – Michèle Massé, Brussels) In Madrid and in Paris, Boti, Empar, Micheline and Jocelyne, four lesbian women in their seventies, tell of their fears, their desires, their differences. Run Time 62 Minutes.
Portrait of a Queen – (Director – Summer Grieve-Knight, Yorkshire, United Kingdom) An intimate and insightful documentary that chronicles the lives of Drag Queens in Yorkshire Run Time 15 minutes.
Queer Migrations – (Directors – Carolin Huang and Shaina Agbayani, Montreal Quebec) Multi(com)plicities is a visual foray into the phenomenological depths of a cis-gendered Filipina-Canadian queer femme woman in Montreal. Run Time 11 minutes.
Sandy – (Director – David Churchill, Winnipeg, Manitoba) An aging puppet (Sandy) as he cruises tunnels, hallways, library stacks, and washrooms for an illicit moment of erotic possibility. Run Time 4 minutes.
Scout’s Oath – (Director – Ryan Rambach, Los Angeles, California) A controversial short documentary film, that examines the Boy Scouts of America’s (BSA) existing anti-gay policy towards the organization’s one million adult volunteers in the wake of the Boy Scout’s decision to permit participation by gay youth. Run Time 12 minutes.
Seven Drinks – (Director – Madison Thomas and Kevin P. Gabel, Winnipeg Manitoba) A romantic drama about two young men, Mitch and Bobby, who meet for coffee one afternoon and quickly fall for each other. Run Time 15 minutes.
Tomorrow – (Director – Leandro Tadashi, Brazil) New Year’s Eve 1999 finds college-bound Clark and Trevor concerned about the future of their friendship, and a request for Clark to beTrevor’s wingman ensures things will never be the same again. Run Time 13 minutes.
Hacia Una Primavera Rosa - Director – Mario de la Torre, Spain) A documentary film created in collaboration with Amnesty International and The Human Rights Program at the University of Rey Juan Carlos in Spain ( English sub-titled) It’s about young clandestine gay members living, working and play in Tunisia, seeking the same LGBT Human Rights and Freedoms enjoyed in other parts of the free world The film has never been screened in North or South America. Run time. 17 minutes.
Schedule 2015
We plan to show 7 to 12 film shorts (Depending on length) on Friday August 7th. Two full length films on Saturday August 8th., and one feature film and several shorts on Sunday August 9th, which will be a day devoted to queer youth. Every day will have it’s own separate page, devoted to that days events, Accounting for the timings of films, three 15 minute breaks over the days, as well as a 5/10 minute introduction/closing of the festival and competition announcements, we’re left with half an hour free something special/
TICKET PRICES:
Ticket Price $10 each. We plan to sell 366 tickets online; the rest (363) will be available at the Box Office for each night of screenings. Three Day Passes $25 Ticket Scene, a Canada and USA company will be handle all our marketing and online sales.us We will post the link to ticket information on or by June 17th.
