It's that time of year again. It's the time of year where we don't throw a Christmas party. And why do we not throw a Christmas party at this time of year? Because by time mid-November comes around, the work Christmas parties start happening, making it impossible for all of the really cool people on my friends list to all get together. It's that time of year again. It's the time of year where we don't throw a Christmas party. And why do we not throw a Christmas party at this time of year? Because by time mid-November comes around, the work Christmas parties start happening, making it impossible for all of the really cool people on my friends list to all get together. So, before all those fun Christmas parties start, we're going to throw a party that has nothing to do with Christmas. In fact, this whole thing tends to be positively un-Christian, if you really want to know.
And yes, we have thrown other parties this year under the "It's Not A" moniker, but none of those were officially sanctioned events. In order to be officially sanctioned, a party must include Mel, Lukas and one of either Masha, Pinball or Eric. Since Eric has promised to grace us with his presence, this event has the sanctioning body's blessing - titles may exchange hands!
We have a full floor of rooms at the Bond hotel booked, so if you want to come out and need a place to stay in the city, we have an extra bed or two. And if the beds get taken, we'll still have plenty of floor boards.
So, come celebrate the fact that it's not Christmas, and find out why so many people are talking about these shindigs. You'll be talking about it too if you attend!
P L A N N E D . . . T I M I N G . . . (Subject to change)
1:00pm Saturday Cameron will book into the Bond hotel. That means anyone interested in coming down early will have a place to drop off their stuff in between bouts of shopping at the Eaton's Center and Queen St. East.
5:30pm Either a Sushi Dinner or Korean Grill feast on Yonge St. No late dinners, because so much of the fun happens back at the hotel between finishing dinner and heading out to the bar. I say 5:30 because I know it will end up being more like 6:30. Participation in dinner is optional. The girls usually like breaking bread, while the guys would typically rather stay back at the hotel, drink beer, eat pizza and break wind.
7:00 - 10:45 Fun at the Bond. We will spread our presence out over a few rooms at the Bond, chat, catch up, get to know each other, share stories and drink some booze. Again, this tends to be the most fun part of the night, and by the time it's time to head to the bar, nobody wants to go. This is also time for everyone to get ready. The girls typically require a costume change that bridges between afternoon and nighttime ativities.
10:45-11:00 Get to the bar. We probably have too many people to bar hop. We don't want to go somewhere, get 5 people in and have 15 people waiting in line for an hour. So we should hit the clubs by 11.
11-3:00 Dance, drink, pool, fun.
3:00-5:30am Wander the downtown streets aimlessly, typically trying to find an open washroom. Somehow this always tends to end up with security at the Hilton kicking us out, I'm not sure why.
As always, it is a "Choose Your Own Adventure" event. Show up when you want. Leave when you want. Go where you want. Join us if you want. Do your own thing if you want. Everything is merely a suggestion.
See you there!
