MELLEEFRESHs discovery of Deadmau5 in 2005 marked a massive shift in the focus of Play Records, her label for over ten years, triggering a succession of dance hits and electro big-room bangers that would turn the club world on its arse. Digital download site, Beatport, was inundated with number one hits from the MELLEEFRESH / Deadmau5 duo (aka Freshmau5). Juno nominated, Afterhours was number one for several weeks in 07. Hey Baby was number one on Beatports all-time classic chart from 06 to 09. Attention Whore hit number one in 09 and a re-release of Sex Slave ran up the charts once again this year.

MELLEEFRESHs brilliant and timeless work with Deadmau5 will go down in dance music history as one of the most successful electro house partnerships of all-time.

Play Records unique approach to the digital music biz facilitates endless collaborations and has attracted talent world-wide. Mellee and her new friends the SpekrFreks from San Fransisco released Candy in 2010, with glam-fag Billy Newton Davis, and a new brand of insane sexy San Fran electrohouse basslines. The single Candy also featured on MELLEEFRESH vs SpekrFreks LP Bakers Dozen a 13-track raucous electro project showcasing some of the devastating trash-pop collaborations between MELLEEFRESH and her San Fran production duo. MELLEEFRESH has also been busy pushing her recent 2012 LP Melleefresh vs deadmau5 At Play a definitive compendium of Melleefresh vs deadmau5 material. Melleefresh vs deadmau5 At Play was released by Play Records as a historical hats off to all of Melleefresh & deadmau5s work together over the years.

BILLY NEWTON-DAVIS

International singing superstar, BILLY NEWTON-DAVIS, has been one of Canadas premier entertainers for over 25 years. His roots were firmly planted at the age of 5 at a Baptist church in his hometown of Cleveland, Ohio where he learned to sing gospel music. His first professional gig was as a backing vocalist for Gloria Gaynor. He then later performed on Broadway in the hit show Bubblin Brown Sugar and also appeared in the Broadway production of Stop The World I Want To Get Off starring Sammy Davis Jr.

His debut album, Love Is a Contact Sport included the songs Deeper, Right Beside You, and Find My Way Back, and won BILLY NEWTON-DAVIS the 1986 Juno award for Best R&B/Soul Recording and Most Promising Male Vocalist. His 1989 follow-up, Spellbound, included his most successful single I Cant Take It, as well as Cant Live with You (a duet with Celine Dion) winner of the the 1989 Juno award for Best R&B/Soul Recording.

In 1991, Billy joined The Nylons and enjoyed a successful stretch performing and touring with the world-renowned singing group. Billy was a guest vocalist on the Seekers Dialogue series with internationally acclaimed author and lecturer Marianne Williamson. In March 2008, BILLY NEWTON-DAVIS performed with The Nylons in Madison, Wisconsin for an evening to celebrate their latest recording Sterling 25 years of recording. This was an event that brought together other Alumni of The Nylons and produced an astonishing evening of music.

BILLY NEWTON-DAVIS is the winner of the 2008 Juno Award for Best Dance Recording All You Ever Want Billy Newton Davis vs. deadmau5, on Play Records. Billys other classic dance tracks Are My Dreams & I like the Music, produced by deadmau5, have been played internationally and continue to be in feature rotation on 103.9 Proud FM Toronto and BBC Radio 1. Billy recently completed work on his solo electronic album: released in early 2012. The 2xLP features twenty-one hot electro and progressive dance tracks for Play Records with assorted DJs and producers from around the world including deadmau5, SpekrFreks, David Jones, Manuel De La Mare, SPL, Adam K, Calvertron, and Per Hammar.

SPEKRFREKS

SPEKRFREKS hail from San Francisco. Theyve had radio hits on XM/BPM Satellite and FM Radio. They have also charted on Beatport's Electro House Top 100. In 2011 working with Universal Music Group's breakout artists Owl City, and Dev & The Cataracs landed SPEKRFREKS on UMGs popular Club Promo Series. They are now remixing more popular artists off of UMG's roster as well as providing soundtrack music for Television and Film. Recently, SPEKRFREKS debut Dubstep track found it's way on Beatports Dubstep Top 100, which lead to their second Dubstep release with Melleefresh finding a spot in the Top 20. Their newest remix for Spencer & Hill has hit Beatports Must Hear Tracks series as well as finding full support and charting from Spencer & Hill themselves. There's no end in sight for these two freaks and their speakers.
